Following our largest ever In House Pro Bono Day last year (formerly known as Financial Institutions Pro Bono Day but now open to all), IHPBD 2025 will again draw on the wide range of sectors represented within our group to have a positive impact in the community via pro bono and volunteering opportunities.
This year’s event is again supported by our friends at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP. Please see below for details about the structure of the day.

Weil and the In House Pro Bono Group are excited to offer in house teams a menu of pro bono and volunteering opportunities in-person at the Law Society and remote opportunities via LawWorks.
Details are below. Volunteers can sign up for one or more of the following workshops.

EMPLOYABILITY WORKSHOPS
Join us to equip care-leavers and disadvantaged young people from Drive Forward Foundation and Bridging Barriers with the skills and confidence to secure meaningful employment.

09.30-09.50 Arrivals

09.50-10.00 Welcome

10.00-11.00 Speed networking: 2-3 volunteers will host a table and young people (beneficiaries) will visit the table and spend around five minutes interviewing the volunteers about their job, their career, and what a typical day in their role looks like. Volunteers are required to put the beneficiaries at ease, share their career journey, and answer any questions they may have.

11.15-12.15 Cover letters and/or personal statements: Working in small groups, volunteers will help beneficiaries to sketch out or improve either or both of their template cover letters and/or answers for university personal statement questions. Background and helpful volunteer tips will be provided.
12.20-13.00 Mock interviews: Volunteers then act as ‘employer’ and interview a beneficiary for a role. Using the beneficiary's CV as a guide, volunteers ask a range of competency-based questions and strength-based questions. Background and helpful volunteer tips will be provided.
13.00-14.00 LUNCH A hot buffet lunch will be served

16.30-16.45 Wrap up and close

16.45-17.30 Drinks and networking: All volunteers throughout the day are welcome – including members of the In House Pro Bono Group who weren’t able to attend during the day itself.
***ONLINE/REMOTE ACTIVITY***

We want to help charities and not-for-profits also based outside of London and so during the same week as In House Pro Bono Day, we are looking for volunteers to share their areas of expertise with small charities and not-for-profits to provide them with the legal knowledge they need to protect and enhance their mission.

We will be running a series of 60 minute remote sessions throughout the week of 9th June in association with LawWorks, a charity that connects volunteer lawyers with people in need of legal advice and the not-for-profit organisations that support them.

We encourage any lawyer who is available for one hour during the week of 9 June and willing to deliver online training in their specialist area, to sign up for this session. We will contact willing volunteers in May to share the areas of law most in demand.
